Blogging firm eyes ties with telcos
Blogstar.com, a global blogging company, expects to tie up with at least 20 telecommunications firms around the globe as part of its project expansion, its Filipino partner told BusinessWorld last Friday.
The company, which launched its platform last February in Barcelona, Spain, provides a Web application that allows celebrities to create and distribute an array of mobile entertainment direct to fans around the globe through the internet and mobile phones.
It provides mobile-driven celebrity entertainment allowing high-profile celebrities to create and distribute an array of mobile entertainment including text, picture, audio, video, and community features, direct to a global fan base.
The company‘s Filipino partner, Myla Villanueva said BlogStar expects to grow its network of telecommunications firms to 20 mobile phone operators by June 2007 from around ten at present.
"This will translate to about one billion subscribers," said Ms. Villanueva, chief technology and strategy officer of Blogstar.com and Ernst and Young‘s 2004 Women Entrepreneur of the Year.
BlogStar is a global firm that is based in Los Angeles. Its technology arm is based in Manila while its distribution arm is based in Hong Kong.
Its co-chairman, Ted Field is chief executive of Radar Pictures.
Subscription to the platform costs $1 per day and around $5 dollar per month, depending on the types of content downloaded, Ms. Villanueva said. -- I. C. C. Gonzales
