Sun, Globe promos secure govt approval
By
TWO leading rivals in the mobile-phone service market secured regulatory approval for their promos, the National Telecommunications Commission said.
Sun Cellular, a subsidiary of Digital Telecommunications Inc. (Digitel), has obtained authority from regulators to offer free text promo for its subscribers and those of other networks.
Ronald O. Solis, NTC chief, said the regulator approved Sun Cellular’s “Bigtime Reload” promo to run until May 31, 2006.
Sun Cellular said that for every P400 accumulated reload, a subscriber is entitled to 100 free text messages, which may be used for both Sun-to-Sun and Sun-to-other networks’ subscribers.
The 100 free text is valid for only 30 days.
“Subscribers can accumulate the P400 reload from any combinations of regular call cards, Express load, 24/7 call and text unlimited, 24/7 text unlimited, 24/7 unlimited line, Daylite call and text unlimited and IDD Top 10 call cards and regular e-PINS,” it said.
Subscribers whose load purchase was made through text message, convert-a-load and monthly deposits from Sureload subscriptions, however, are disqualified from the promotion.
The NTC also approved the extension of Globe to Globe and Touch Mobile to Touch Mobile per second call rate promo up to April 15 this year.
Globe said voice calls are charged P0.10 per second for the prepaid and postpaid subscribers of the two carriers.
Calls from Globe to TM subscribers and vice versa will continue to be charged on regular inter-network call rates. The promo is unavailable to subscribers who are on international roaming mode.
Globe also said its P10 for every 3-minute call promo for its postpaid and prepaid subscribers for thirty days will last until April 15.
Also securing regulatory approval was the extension of Innove Communications Inc.’s P15 per 15 minute call promo until April 15.
Innove, a unit of Globe, said the “Todo Tawag 15/15,” will require subscribers to dial 800 plus the 10 digit TM number to avail themselves of the promo. The call will automatically end after 15 minutes.
The firm said the promotion does not apply to international calls.
