PLDT WeRoam cited for excellence

Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.’s (PLDT) WeRoam was given the National Award for Most Outstanding Wireless Broadband Technology Provider by the Philippine Quality Awards for Business Excellence (PQABE).

The PQABE is a prestigious award-giving body that recognizes Philippine businesses based on the seven-point criteria patterned after the global Malcolm Baldridge Awards. In doing so, PQABE raises the bar of Philippine standards across varying industries, at the same time promoting friendly and healthy competition.

PLDT WeRoam is the breakthrough technology in wireless connectivity, equipping laptop users with the mobile ability to connect to the internet. With WeRoam, users can work wherever and whenever they want. It has been roundly praised by business leaders and managers for its ability to link up remote offices and workers who are on the road.

Eric Alberto, PLDT senior vice-president and Corporate Business Group (CBG) head, said: "We are proud of the new path to user freedom and empowerment that PLDT WeRoam has effectively found for our customers.

"We are also happy with the positive feedback we’ve been getting from business and individual users, all attesting to WeRoam’s practicality, unique capabilities and new and exciting promises for the future."

Mobile sales forces or other deployed personnel that need to update their home offices can now do so in real time. Business and individual users alike can cruise the internet thanks to PLDT’s GPRS/EDGE (general packet radio service/enhanced data rates for GSM evolution) and WiFi (wireless fidelity) network.

They can also access their office LAN (local area network) while traveling abroad with PLDT WeRoam’s international roaming service.

"We are now seeing that convergence is progressing beyond a PLDT idea and more towards a practical reality for our customers. PLDT WeRoam is certainly a highlight of our many offerings.

"We aim to empower businesses and corporate individuals with the characteristic ingenuity and innovation of convergence. We are trying our best give you products that are responsive to your present needs. At PLDT, we see this as a most worthwhile undertaking," said PLDT CBG first vice-president Nerisse Ramos.
