e-Services forum generates $23.5M in new contracts

The e-Services Philippines, an annual trade show for IT and IT-enabled services, exceeded expectations and generated $23.5 million in new contracts this year, the Trade department said.

In a statement, the Trade department said a Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions report showed the total value of contracts under negotiation which were initiated during the conference amounted to P1.16 billion, 500% higher than last year’s P212.5 million.

Anticipated export sales alone, the Trade department said, hit $20.7 million, much higher than last year’s $664,264.

The Trade department said of the IT and IT-enabled services sectors that participated in the trade show, data transcription and software development came out as the top sectors.

"Exhibitors supplying IT systems, equipment, telecoms and wireless networks also reported significant gains in addition to co-location agreements of substantial value," the statement said.

The Trade department said the trade show also benefited from bigger attendance, with the number of exhibitors increasing to 170 from 140 in 2005. -- JGUR
