Google’s Chrome getting popular among RP netizens

 Google Chrome, Google’s web browser, is gaining popularity among Internet users in the Philippines, according to a recent statement by Google Philippines.

In media statement, the company said Chrome has overtaken other browsers to be the second most used browser in the country with 21.88-percent share of the local browser market, according to research firm StatCounter.

According to the study, the extensions feature is the most popular among Chrome Filipino users because it allows them to personalize their browser depending on their needs.

Extensions are small programs that add new features to a user’s web browser allowing them to customize their web experience. If the user hates pop-up ads, the extension has a blocking feature.

Moreover, extensions allow user to browse photos on Google Images, Flickr and Picasa in slideshow mode “There are thousands of Chrome extensions to choose from and you can install as many or as few as you’d like in one click,” said the company.

Google said Chrome extensions gallery offers applications that increases online productivity and offer a unique browsing experience. It added Chrome’s extensions can help techies who are using focused Web 2.0 in their social media or a web developer who need power tools for coding.

For the social networker, the Chrome has the following applications: Facebook, Chromed Bird, Yoono and Mashable. :

Google Chrome has also the following features for people who want to get real-time information through the News Reader, Financial Times News and Time magazine
Through the News Reader, Google said users can view the world’s five most recent top stories in Google News with the News Reader application.

Financial Times News service provides the latest news, in-depth information, and comprehensive analysis on world business, finance and political news carried by the famous business newspaper.

Through the extensions. Users can browse must-read content of the day with the latest photos and videos. With the extension, users can search the Time’s free archive, which spans back to 1923.

For the web developer, the Chrome has the Chrome editor, Web Developer and Measure It.

Google said the Chrome extensions have also an array tools for bloggers such as the Blog This, Webpage Screenshot and After the Deadline.

After the Deadline edits the spelling, style and grammar to an error-free blog entry. Meanwhile, Shareaholic shares the web sites to the users network in: Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, Google Buzz, or Evernote.
